The purpose of the Safe Church Program is to ensure that parishes are places of safety and wholeness for those who come seeking the love of Christ, and that all volunteers and employees are aware of their own personal safety and are equipped to manage their own personal risk.

Requirements: The Diocese of BC requires all volunteers and employees to obtain a Criminal Record Check and complete the Praesidium Safe Church Modules or watch the Safe Church training video. Once these requirements are completed, they are valid for five years.

Safe Church Policies: The Diocese has policies in place regarding harassment, bullying, sexual misconduct, and other issues at this link. These policies are applicable to all parishes. All clergy, lay employees, and volunteers in leadership roles must read these policies and acknowledge that they have read them. After reading the policies, click here to access the acknowledgement form. Please give or scan your completed A-1 Policy Acknowledgement form to the Safe Church Coordinator, who will forward it to the Diocesan Safe Church Coordinator.

St. Luke's Safe Church Liaison: Please contact Barb Prescott at the Safe Church e-mail  or by calling the church office (250-477-6741).
