With added staff support from Canada Summer Jobs, our team is offering an exciting variety of impactful programs and events during renovations!
Adapted Pantry Program services continue to be offered twice a week from the Upper Hall at Lutheran Church of the Cross, and we have packed 1,785 grocery orders so far! Our gardens are bringing in heaps of produce to share, and through our Get Growing Victoria events, we have shared over 800 seedlings to support food growing at home. Food Skills Programs continue with regular meal kit distributions, including our recent Mother's Day Brunch Kit and Father's Day BBQ Kit themes.
With monthly kitchen rental space secured at Emmanuel Baptist Church, and funding support from United Way South Vancouver Island and the BC Farmer's Market Association, we also launched a new monthly lunch program called Elder’s Kitchen. This program brings seniors who are experiencing food insecurity and social isolation together to prepare and share regular meals for each other, and attendees receive coupons to spend on healthy food at their local farmers market. Just because our facility is currently under construction, doesn’t mean we can’t still cook, garden, and share skills together!
