On Sunday, November 10th at 10:30 am St. Luke's held a Service of Remembrance to recognize veterans who are buried or commemorated in St. Luke's Cemetery.
Parishioners and visitors who attended were very appreciative of this special service to honour their family members.
Local scouts and great-grandchildren of one of the veterans placed remembrance pots, containing rosemary, a Canadian flag, and a poppy cross, on the veterans' graves as the 135 names of the veterans were read out.
A trumpeter played the Last Post, we observed two minutes of silence, and we sang O Canada under sunny skies.
Thanks to Sharon McMillan, Barb Prescott, and Gillian Klassen for sharing their photos from the service. Thank you to Saanich Tuf-Turf for providing the sand used in the remembrance pots, and to Noreen Saville and Pam Gaudio for providing the rosemary.
