Mark Your Calendars – On Saturday, February 15th, we will hold our 2025 Attic Treasures Vintage Market from 10 am – 4 pm. This will be a multi-vendor market with vendors renting tables as they did last year. St. Luke’s will also have a table with vintage items. To offer to help, please call Carol Turnham.
Save the Date of Sunday, February 23rd for our Annual General Meeting (AGM), also known as our Annual Vestry Meeting. The meeting will be held after the 10 am service and will include a review of reports from 2024, voting on the budget for 2025, and the election of Parish Council members, Synod delegates, and the Leadership Team members. There will not be an 8 am service that morning.
Parish Council for 2025 – If you would like to serve on Parish Council or know someone who would like to be on Parish Council, please speak to one of the Nominations Committee members: Rick Saville, Heather Simpson, or Carol Turnham.
*Reports for the Annual Meeting package are due in the Parish Office by Monday, January 27th. If possible, please send your report by e-mail to admin@stlukecedarhill.ca.
**Country Grocer Save A Tape Program Update – We have now collected another set of receipts, totalling $5,000, and have received another $50 gift card, bringing our total to date to $700 in gift cards, which have been sold to parishioners. Well done, everyone! Please continue to collect your Country Grocer receipts and turn them in to Neil in the Church Office, put them in an envelope in the mail slot, or in the Country Grocer box in the narthex.
**Karren Stinson Bursary for Lutherans and Anglicans based in Western Canada – Application Deadline: March 31st. The Karren Stinson Bursary Fund celebrates the life of a parish worker at Lutheran Church of the Cross, the late Karren Louise Stinson. The purpose of this Bursary Fund is to give financial assistance to Lutherans and Anglicans based in Western Canada who are currently involved in post-secondary education leading to a vocation of service. The first Bursary was awarded in 1991. We invite applications for this year’s bursary of $1000. To apply for the 2025 Karren Stinson Bursary, please visit the News page and follow the instructions given carefully. The Bursary is scheduled to be awarded in the late spring of 2025.
Thank you for your donations to the “Goats Project”, towards buying goats for families in Kenya. Donations in the Christmas stocking and directed donations totalled $700. We will send this to the PWRDF for their World of Gifts program. Our gift of $700 will provide 7 Galla goats for families in need in Kenya.
Chalking the Door – As you leave today, take a look above the church entrance door. At the Fantastic Friday earlier this month, we “chalked the door” and asked God’s blessing on the church building and all who enter this year. A piece of chalk and the information sheet with the blessing were handed out last week. If you didn’t receive your take-home package with chalk and the information sheet last week, more are available at the back of the church.
The January 2025 Faith Tides is now available online at the News page. Print copies are available in the church or from the parish office. Or please call the office (250-477-6741) to ask to have a copy delivered.
