**A Big Thank You to Everyone for all the inspiring services over Holy Week and Easter – Thank you to everyone who helped make these services so special: all the readers and liturgical assistants, the choristers and music director Susanne Reul-Zastre, the Bell Choir under the leadership of Muriel Ali, musicians such Mary Bryne (flute), Koshi Thompson (trumpet), the Altar Guild for for preparing for all the services and decorating the church so beautifully, decorating the church so beautifully, Neil for printing all the service bulletins, and Daniel and Joan for leading the services. We are truly blessed at St. Luke’s.
**Thank you to our amazing volunteers for all your help in making this year’s Spring Fair a success, from set up to take down and everything in between. Your donations and all your work before, during, and after the Fair are very much appreciated. Carol Turnham.
Please stay for Coffee Time this Sunday after the 10 am service – Park on Synod Road for easy access via the side door of the hall.
Sacred Frontiers – A spiritual exploration/faith formation group for teens and their parents; adults considering baptism and/or confirmation; anyone who wants to be welcomed into St. Luke’s from another denomination; anyone who would like to formally renew their baptismal commitment; anyone who has faith questions; anyone who wants to deepen their faith outside of Sunday morning. The group is meeting weekly, each Sunday and will end on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th, with a celebration of baptism and reaffirmation and welcome. The group is meeting in the church from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. See more information at the News page.
**Fantastic Friday will be this Friday, May 2nd from 4:30 to 6:30 pm in St. Luke’s Hall – Invite your friends, neighbours, children, and grandchildren to join in the fun and find out why these Fridays are fantastic! For more information or to offer to help (always greatly appreciated!), please talk to Claire White, Tara Poilievre, Barb Prescott, or Sharon Hallsor.
**Old Cemeteries Society Tour of St. Luke’s Cemetery – Next Sunday, May 4th starting at 2 pm. This tour will feature the stories of the farmers, florists, and gardeners who are resting in St. Luke's Cemetery. The descendants and friends of these families will tell their stories. Charge for the tour is $5 (cash please).
**Diocesan-Wide Confirmations – Sunday, May 4th at 4:00 pm at Christ Church Cathedral. Please plan to attend to support those from St. Luke's who are being confirmed.
**A Vintage Fashion Show and Tea – Saturday, May 10th from 2 – 4 pm in St. Luke’s Hall. In honour of St. Luke’s 165th anniversary, Vintage Fashion Showcase will present Local History Through Fashion from 1860 to 1980. Afternoon Tea will be served, featuring a selection of delicious baked goodies. There will be door prizes. Tickets are $25 and are on sale now from Claire White and via the events@stlukecedarhill.ca e-mail.
*Early Bird Registration is now open for this year’s Amazing Journey Day Camp, which will be held July 7th – 11th in the mornings, 9 am to noon at St. Luke’s. If you have children, grandchildren, or friends with children ages 4 through 11, please consider registering them to participate in the day camp. Children born January 1, 2014 to June 30, 2021 are eligible to be campers. The registration form can found at the News page. Rug/Latch Hooking Supplies Needed – Have you ever done rug/latch hooking? Do you have extra tools or cut pieces you no longer need? We are looking for spare supplies for our Summer Day Camp in July. If you, or anyone you know, has any you could donate, please talk to Tara Poilievre. Thank you.
Spring Into Action Food Drive for the Shelbourne Community Kitchen – April 1 - April 30 – The Kitchen is inviting community members, including all of us at St. Luke’s, to join in their annual Spring Into Action Food Drive Campaign. Donation suggestions include: canned beans, canned fruit and vegetables, cans of fish or meat, granola bars and cereal, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter, juice and herbal tea, rice, oats, and other grains. Please continue to fill the basket at the back of the church and in the hall to help keep the Kitchen Pantry Program shelves stocked for the months to come with healthy food for families.
