Save to your Calendar

This month's Reflections will feature the Seabreeze Trio, along with poems and prayers. Please join us for a unique and uplifting service of beautiful music and inspirational words, conducive to meditative reflection and spirituality. The readings, prayers, and music of this special Reflection Time will calm your spirit and soothe your soul.

About This Service
Offering a combination of inspirational poems, thoughtful prose passages, untraditional prayers, interspersed with complementary music, St. Luke's Reflections Service focuses on spirituality. Drawing on the tradition of evensong, the service recognizes our need for stillness and connection to the soul at the end of the day.

Referencing the seasons, the service acknowledges the liturgical calendar through both the words and the music. The theme, introduced through the words, is given added depth through the music. The gorgeous ambience of the softly lit church adds to contemplative atmosphere that places us in a state of prayer. Reflections provides another way to encounter the Divine. Please come and be a part of this unique experience.

About the Musicians
The Seabreeze Trio has been gaining a local reputation as a remarkably versatile group. They cover well-known songs from many decades in a wide range of styles from folk and country to jazz and pop.

Guitarist and vocalist Fraser Kerley’s extraordinary mastery of many genres is one of Seabreeze’s “superpowers”. Fraser was born and raised in Victoria and has nearly 60 years of professional experience as a performer and music teacher. He was a full time professional performing musician in the 70s and 80s when he spent several years touring Canada and the USA. In the decades following, Fraser worked as a music specialist in the Sooke School District and has taught guitar privately to hundreds of students, all the while continuing to perform in many local bands.

Drummer and vocalist Freddy Brown also brings six decades of professional performing experience and versatility to Seabreeze. Now resident in Sooke and active volunteering in the local community, Freddy was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario where he started his musical career in his mid-teens playingprofessionally in his parents’ dance band. After he grew up, Freddy moved westto Edmonton, where he entertained audiences for decades as a drummer and lead vocalist at venues all over Alberta from Jasper to Fort McMurray to Calgary. Since moving to this area, Freddy has shared his always reliable rhythms with numerous musicians. Freddy’s professionalism and versatility extends to another Seabreeze “superpower”: his ability to play strongly at low decibel levels thanks to his creative re-engineering of drum kits to reduce the volume.

Bass player and vocalist Dave Conway has over five decades of experience as a musician, songwriter and teacher. Born and raised in Victoria, Dave lived in the Bulkley Valley in the north of BC for more than twenty-four years where he taught, recorded and toured several generations of kids' rock bands in elementary schools. Playing guitar and bass, he performed locally and around BC. (including at the Vancouver Folk Festival and Vancouver Island Music Festival) with a variety of musicians. After moving back to Victoria in 2014, Dave played lead guitar for the bands, Arf the Dog and Southbound, before joining Fraser and Fred in Seabreeze in 2021. He continues to perform on acoustic guitar as a duo with reknowned violinist Sari Alesh.
