An Update to the Mystery Letter and Photos
After sending out the notice last month, we were connected with two of the letter writer's daughters. Joanne, one of the daughters, sent us this comment: "Thank you to both you and the person who found this treasure. I didn't recognize anyone in the photos, but knew instantly the letter was from Mom by her handwriting. It was like walking down Memory Lane while reading her letter. She must have written the letter within two months of all of us moving into the house that my sisters Barb and Sue (deceased 1994), brother Billy, Mom, Dad and I lived in for more than 70 years." We also learned that the letter writer's mother and father, Annie and Ernest Palmer, are resting in St. Luke's Cemetery. The envelope, with the letter and pictures, has now been returned to Joanne. We'll plan to include more information about this mystery and the Palmer family in a future Cemetery News. |
